FAITH/FATE.
in a canyon where Rocky Mountains meet the plains, inaccessible by road, surrounded on three sides by river and framed by volcanic formations, a monumental takes its form from ancient water clocks and even older stone.
As river water flows past the site, a mechanical gear drives down the sculpture inch-by-inch. A second mechanism, powered by hand crank, expands the sculpture's scaffold outward. As the river rages in spring and ebbs in late autumn, as rain and sun and wind wear on its metal bones, the sculpture inhales and expands out.
